**The most important quality you will need is to be friendly and helpful; to have good communication skills and to enjoy working with people.
**Every day you will meet hundreds of people. Most of the interactions will be simple and straightforward but sometimes you will need to use your initiative to resolve problems and make decisions. Sometimes your customers will need that extra bit of attention and care and we think it is important to make travelling by bus easy for everyone. That’s why we train you to think about all of your customers’ needs.
** Once you have finished your initial training you will be accompanied by a Driver Mentor for the first week while you build your confidence.
** As well as friendly, helpful staff with excellent driving ability, Courtney Buses reputation is built on reliability. This means that our drivers all need to be reliable and punctual in attending work so that we can get the service out to our customers.
THE SELECTION PROCESS
If you are shortlisted for interview you will be asked to attend one of our recruitment days. This involves an interview, a driving assessment and a theory test. You will also need to pass a PCV medical and have satisfactory references.
Position: Trainee PCV Driver
Hours: Average approximately 40 hours per week while initially training, rising to between
46 - 48 hours per week when qualified.
Salary: £9.50 per hour while training, rising to an annual salary of £27,000 for the first year of employment and further rising to over £28,000 one calendar year after your initial start date.
A uniform will be provided once you have completed your initial training. If you do not pass your 6 month probation period you are required to hand back your uniform. Failure to do so will result in deduction of your wages for the value of your uniform.
Full Time employees are entitled to 28 days holiday (20 days plus 8 Bank Holidays). Holiday pay will be accrued on the hours you work. This rises to 25 days with length of service.
