COVID-19 update - How our services are affected

Coronavirus (COVID-19) update

The latest advice from the Government is that you should work from home where possible, but if you cannot work from home you should go to work once your employer has made it safe to do so.  However, everyone is urged to avoid using public transport where possible so we can manage capacity to allow for social distancing for those people who have no other travel options.  We are continuing to do everything we can to keep our staff and customers safe as the demand for travelling on our buses is set to increase.  Among our enhanced measures in place are:

  • Encouraging social distancing on the bus and whilst waiting at bus stops
  • Buses being thoroughly cleaned and disinfected each evening, with additional cleaning of commonly touched areas during the day
  • Encouraging contactless payments or prepaid tickets - cash can be used but to avoid cross-contamination we are not giving change
  • Requesting passengers to wear a face covering whilst travelling
  • Buses now being fitted with hand-sanitiser dispensers for passenger use

We are monitoring passenger numbers on a daily basis, to react in the event that any journey or route has demand exceeding (socially distant) capacity.  If you are travelling on one of our buses and have concerns about capacity, please let us know, as our ticket machine data only shows where people board, and not where they alight.  For now, we believe our buses are running frequently enough to match the demand on the current timetables, but we are ready to change that if necessary.

Most routes, which in normal circumstances run half hourly or better, are now running to an hourly frequency.  Most services which normally run hourly or less frequently have been maintained at that level, though some journeys have been cancelled, particularly in the early morning and evening.  In the summaries below, the links will take you through to the current timetable.

All of over 1300 bus stops which we serve now have a temporary timetable placed on them.  Please remember that unless the stop is a timing point (those listed in timetable booklets or shown as "major stops" on the app), these are approximate times, and given the low numbers of passengers and traffic the bus could be running a little earlier than shown at the bus stop.  Drivers are instructed to wait only at timing points if they are early, as these usually have a safe place to wait.  We advise passengers to be at the bus stop 5 minutes before the bus is due.

On Bank Holiday 25th May we will be running a Sunday service on all routes.

Our new timetables are now online and available on our app.
