Norden Farm Centre for the Arts, Maidenhead
Norden Farm Centre for the Arts is Maidenhead’s only purpose built entertainment venue – offering music, comedy, films and more! Open seven days a week, the building is a hidden gem, nestled in the middle of a residential neighbourhood in the Altwood/Boyn Hill area.
The centre opened back in Autumn 2000 on the site of an old dairy farm. The original Georgian farmhouse and Long Barn have been incorporated into the venue, alongside a state of the art auditorium, art gallery and Studio performance space.
Averaging 150 events a season - their wide ranging line-up features a whole host of music – from classical to blues, folk to jazz, with performers joining them from all over the world. If you’re looking for a laugh, you can catch big name comedians trying out new material in their 220 seat auditorium or intimate Studio space. Not forgetting TV favourites, up-and-coming acts and the best of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. The programme also boasts a range of theatre and drama performances.
Every school holiday is jam-packed full of shows, family films, storytelling and arts and craft sessions. Get stuck in with after school classes for young people including drama, dance and podcasting. There are pre-school classes for younger ones and week long activity clubs in the summer holidays. Look out for their popular Maidenhead Beach – a free-to-play installation featuring 15 tonnes of sand that runs throughout the summer holidays.
The chance to try something new or hone an existing skill isn’t just for the kids, adults can make the most of regular and one off classes in yoga, zumba, acoustic guitar, silver jewellery making, life drawing, book club, calligraphy, crochet and more!
Film buffs or casual film goers alike can catch the best of the blockbusters, world cinema, documentary and art-house films on their huge cinema screen and in glorious surround sound! Many of which you wouldn’t find at the multiplex.
There’s even a licensed Café Bar and you can take drinks into the cinema or shows with you. You can always pop in any time for an afternoon coffee and cake, glass of wine in the evening or treat yourself to a spot of lunch or dinner from their seasonal menu.
